Background

Perennial Services Group is a privately held company that partners with leading home services providers across the United States. Founded in 2022, PSG focuses on residential-service industries such as landscaping, turf care, plant healthcare, arbor, irrigation, and pest control.

PSG’s business model involves forming permanent, values-aligned partnerships with independent, often family-operated businesses. Currently, they encompass over 30 of these partnerships, comprising over 1700 employees. These partnerships aim to preserve the legacy of local brands while providing strategic, financial, and operational support to achieve their full potential. PSG’s mission is to become the partner of choice for the nation’s leading home services entrepreneurs.

Their Challenge

PSG has a lot of diversity within its partnerships which can sometimes cause challenges. Preparing to run reports that allowed for a clean Worker’s Comp audit and other Department of Labor reporting requirements was one of them.

Many inconsistencies within the report led to a misalignment with worker comp codes, which resulted in increased scrutiny and potential financial penalties.

Our Solution

We started by thoroughly assessing current job departments, and their corresponding worker comp codes. Then we developed a standardized list of job titles that coincided with their departments and linked them to the appropriate workers comp code.

Once the list was set, we implemented the change to the current employees in the system and provided training to the specialists at the field offices who perform onboarding duties.

Conclusion

This strategic initiative allowed PSG to automatically propagate the worker comp field based on the chosen job title, during the onboarding process. It also improved transparency, enhanced compliance and ensured audits would be clean throughout the organization.
